Personal profile

Overview

As of September 2018, I have been a PhD candidate in Management Sciences and Marketing. My main research interest lies in the intersection of service research, particularly the Transformative Service Research paradigm (TSR), and service design. I hold an MSc degree (Distinction) in Environmental and Public Health where I have developed an interest in designing initiatives aimed at promoting the subjective sense of wellbeing amongst ethnic minority communities.  For my MSc dissertation, I conducted ethnographical research to explore how community gardening as a collective practice can promote community wellbeing in an ethnically diverse community. During the past three years, I have been working as a practitioner with some of the main service providers for refugees in Northwest England with a focus on improving societal wellbeing through better integration into the host community.

With this background, I have been awarded a scholarship by the Alliance Manchester Business School to embark on my PhD endeavour. My doctoral research is entitled 'Designing Transformative Servies for Refugees' and is being conducted under the supervision of Dr Ilma Nur Chowdhury, Professor Judy Zolkiewski and Dr Marzena Nieroda. Through my PhD research, I wish to understand how service can contribute to the wellbeing of refugees as an exemplar of vulnerable consumers.
