Amish Sarpotdar is a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the FAIR project. He is responsible for mapping socio-spatial vulnerabilities to energy and transport poverty in the UK. This part of his work quantifies, models and maps vulnerabilities to energy and transport poverty.
Amish has a doctorate in Planning and Environmental Management. His thesis focused on the managerial, organisational, and political aspects of spatial information use in planning practice. The research has implications for planning support and data infrastructure. For this research, he developed an open-source interactive thematic web map to understand how planners interact with spatial information. He worked on the case study of Mumbai, India.
Amish is proficient in spatial analysis and geographic modelling. He is a geospatial enthusiast always in search of interesting maps. His research interests include spatial analysis, GIScience, data infrastructure, and policy. He has a background in economics and public policy. Previously, he was a Senior Infrastructure Consultant for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and assisted in the development of the Smart Cities Mission. He has also worked as a Research Assistant in the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and for the UK 2070 Commission.
