Personal profile

Amy is a Lecturer in Environmental Management at the University of Manchester. She is a Geographer specialized in Geographic Information Science. Her research focuses on creating equitable green cities and revealing spatial inequities using spatial analysis approaches.

Research interests

My research primarily focuses on urban greening, examining the intersection of environmental sustainability and social equity. I explore how urban greening initiatives can be designed and implemented to ensure fair access to green spaces and their benefits, particularly for marginalized communities. Tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Public Participation GIS (PPGIS) are essential to my research, enabling spatially explicit analysis that integrate public experiences and demands.

I'm interested in the role that greening residential streets can play toward environmental and social sustainability, and am curious about the interface between mobility and greening goals on urban streets. I aim to continue to explore the role of urban greening in the context of the just transition in cities.

Through my work, I hope to advance knowledge and practices that promote healthy, inclusive, sustainable, and socially just cities.
