Overview

I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Dermatology, with a split of 50% time in clinical research based at The University of Manchester and 50% in NHS Dermatology Specialist Training.

Biography

Dr Amy Foulkes is an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Dermatology. She began her dermatology training in 2008 with Professor Nick Reynolds in Newcastle upon Tune. Dr Foulkes subsequently moved to The University of Manchester to complete an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, under supervision of Dr Richard Warren, Professor Chris Griffiths and Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed. The topic of her research was personalisation of biologic therapies in severe psoriasis. During her PhD Dr Foulkes was able to collaborate with pharmaceutical partner organisations and acted as the Academy of Medical Sciences early career researcher representative. Presentation of her PhD work was awarded the Best Registrar Paper at the BAD meeting 2015, The Royal Society of Medicine Dermatology Research Prize 2015 and subsequently awarded third place at The Royal Society of Medicine Trainee of the Year Award 2015. Her current research focuses on meeting the challenge of analysing big data in the search for biomarkers in skin disease.
