I am a historian interested in missionary history, Chinese history, Sino-Russian relations, and Orthodox Christianity. I am keen to explore rituals and religious practice as well as how those impact human relations which form networks of communication, at local, national, and transnational levels. Key questions I am preoccupied with are those of how transcultural communication occurs, how use of specific media can impact such communication, and how such communication contributes to formation of crosscultural identities.
