My current research draws on tools from operations research and machine learning to guide the optimisation of the manufacturing tasks and delivery strategies of personalised medical products. These revolutionary treatments re-engineer the patient's own cells and are capable of treating genetic and progressive disorders, such as last stage cancer. The novelty of the products places them at the juncture of multiple existing healthcare supply chains and thus their commercialisation lacks appropriate and holistic optimisation models. identifying setups and processes that are cost-efficient, sustainable, flexible and allow for on-time delivery of products in personalised vein-to-vein supply chains.
Andreea is a PhD student in Decision Sciences at the Alliance Manchester Business School. Prior to starting her PhD studies, she completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Criminology and Quantitative Methods and a Master of Science in Data Science (Business & Management). She is also an Enrichment Student at The Alan Turing Institute (2020-2022) working on collaborative research, reproducibility, project design, and data quality. Andreea is also a contributor to The Turing Way community.
Andreea’s research expertise lies at the intersection between data science and decision sciences. She is particularly interested in optimisation problems addressing social sustainability issues in the fields of logistics, supply chain management, and applied optimisation. She has previously worked on topics related to international migration, social media data, sentiment analysis, cryptomarkets, drug consumption, and illegal supply chains in both industry and academia.
