Dr
Dr. Pierce joined the Alliance Manchester Business School in 2021. He uses an empirical quantitative approach to study capital market integrity and factors that relate to investor protections. His recent research, which was published in the Journal of Accounting Research and featured on the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, examines how the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission faces challenges in enforcing disclosure regulations that are meant to facilitate information parity for investors. His other work examines the capital-market effects of insider trading; the relationship between corporate governance and high-risk insider trading; and factors that impact the incorporation of earnings news into stock prices.
During his time at AMBS, Dr. Pierce has lectured in the first-year financial reporting module, the third-year capstone module on analysis of financial reporting, as well as a MSc module on quantitative research methods in accounting.
