Research interests

Anna's research interests span the natural and social sciences, centring on the interactions between humans and nature and how these can influence the structure and function of ecology and ecosystems at the landscape scale. The majority of her research explores how humans are impacting biodiversity and the responses that these impacts may require, both ecological and social. Recently, Anna's research interests have focused on how we can implement transformative conservation methods to respond to the biodiversity crisis, particularly rewilding and nature recovery. This has included exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing rewilding in cultural landscapes. Anna's research journey began by exploring the response of butterflies to anthropogenic climate change and she retains a passion for reducing the negative impacts of humans on butterflies and other pollinators.
