Biography

Anna Samsonova-Taddei is Professor of Accounting at Alliance Manchester Business School. She relies on qualitative research methodology to explore topics such as auditing and accountabiliy; country-specific and transnational regulatory processes and structures; audit reforms in transition economies, professional ethics and practice methodology. Her work has appeared in leading international journals, such as Accounting, Organizations and Society; Organization Studies; Critical Perspectives on Accounting; Accounting, Auditing and Accountability journal; British Accouning Review; Accounting and Business Research; Journal of Business Ethics, and Abacus. Anna is an Editorial Board member for academic journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal and Auditing: Journal of Practice and Theory. 

Research interests

In her research, Anna employs a wide range of qualitative research methodology.

Anna's current research interests are in the following areas: 

  • Professionalisation of auditors in the context of a transitional economy; determinants of the disposition of regulatory powers between the state and the profession; contrasting the roles and interests of the local audit community against those of the players in an international audit arena; power interplays and conflicts of interest between various members of the professional field;
  • Regulatory impact assessment in the context of British auditing;
  • Transnational governance and regulation in accountancy; transnational policy networks; roles of international organisations;
  • Institutional triggers of change in accountancy.
