Antonios Anastasiou graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2008, with a diploma thesis on process design of a biodiesel plant. In the same department he conducted his PhD thesis (2009-2013) under the supervision of Prof A. Mouza, on the experimental investigation of liquid film characteristics in open inclined microchannels. At the same time, he participated in research works regarding the investigation of biological flows in microfluidcis.
In 2014 he started his Postdoc in School of Chemical Engineering in University of Leeds, aiming to the investigation of medical devices for dental applications. In 2016 he was awarded an Individual Marie Curie Fellowship for the treatment of periodontitis using ultrafast femtosecond lasers.
He was appointed as a lecturer in CEAS in August 2019. His research includes the development of microfluidic devices for biomedical applications, design and evaluation of "smart", multifunctional medical devices (e.g. dental implants) and biomaterials for tissue engineering.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
