Dr Anthony Fisher is a Lecturer at the University of Washington and an Honorary Research Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Manchester. He was part of the AHRC-funded project The Age of Metaphysical Revolution: David Lewis and His Place in the History of Analytic Philosophy (2016-2019), and has recently co-edited the Philosophical Letters of David K. Lewis, Volume 1 and Volume 2 (Oxford University Press, 2020), with Helen Beebee.
Previously, he was the Bader Postdoctoral Fellow in Philosophy at Queen’s University. While he was there he researched the philosophy of Donald C. Williams (1899-1983) and edited a collection of Williams' essays titled The Elements and Patterns of Being: Essays in Metaphysics (Oxford University Press, 2018).
Before that he held a Newton International Fellowship from the British Academy at the University of Manchester. His project involved a detailed study of the metaphysics of Samuel Alexander (1859-1938) using the Samuel Alexander Papers held at the John Rylands Library. See the project website and the 'Heritage Heroes’ video on Samuel Alexander.
He began his career as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University (2012-2013) and received his PhD from Syracuse University in 2012.
