Overview

Aysha Basheer is currently pursuing a joint PhD in Social Statistics at the University of Manchester (UoM) and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR), supervised by Prof. Arkadiusz (Arek) Wisniowski (UoM), Dr. Mark Brown (UoM), Emilio Zagheni (MPIDR), and Maciej Danko (MPIDR). She is a mathematics graduate from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune.

Her PhD project focuses on developing data-driven approaches for estimating and forecasting human migration. Her long-term research goals include studying the causes and consequences of demographic change using mathematical, statistical, and computational methods. She aims to contribute to data-driven decision-making processes and effectively communicate her research insights to a wider audience.
