Personal profile
Overview
I am a PhD Candidate interested in the composite social history of imperial worlds. I enjoy reflecting on how our elders coped with the uncanny outcomes of politics, collective ideals, individual ambitions, and material drive. My thesis focuses more specifically on transforming work practices and conceptions between 1780 and 1850. My work straddles three different geographic areas: the British Isles, the Bengal Delta, and the coast of New South Wales in Australia.
I spend time looking into all sorts of business archives and diaries. In my daily typing practice, I seek to bring these lives back to the limelight and discuss their stories. I am the recipient of the Isabel Cookson scholarship from the University of Manchester and the University of Melbourne.
