Biography
Carolina holds a First Class Honours degree in BSc Biomedical Science from Liverpool John Moores University and graduated as the highest performing student in the programme and in the whole School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, for which she was awarded the very prestigious President's Prize by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Outstanding Achievement Award by LJMU, respectively.
During her undergraduate degree, she gained experience in Clinical Biochemistry working in a NHS hospital laboratory.
She also conceived, designed and executed an extracurricular research project, which was externally funded by the British Toxicology Society (BTS) in a highly competitive basis.
She is currently undertaking her doctoral training at The University of Manchester funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC DTP) where she is using zebrafish and 'omics technologies to investigate a novel neurodevelopmental disorder that causes microcephaly and craniofacial defects in children.
