Biography

 

After a Licence (BA) in English and American Studies from the Université de Nancy II (France), a Maîtrise and DEA in the same subject specialising in medieval studies, I obtained a PhD in Medieval Studies at the University of Manchester in 2003.
I have been teaching in the French studies at the University of Manchester since 1994 and I am the convenor for the second year and final year French language modules. I co-convene the Introduction to professional translation module and teach on the Introduction to interpreting module.
I was the EDI representative for MLC (SALC) from 2022-2025.
 
I hold a diploma in Interpreting (DPSI) from the Institute of Linguists, for which I was an examiner. I was nominated an EBL fellow by CEEBL (Centre for Excellence in Enquiry Based Learning, University of Manchester) in 2009-10 to promote and support Enquiry Based Learning across the HE curriculum.
I was the Residence abroad tutor for French from 2014-1017.
I was external examiner for the University of Heriot Watt (French language, translation and interpreting) and the University Sheffield Hallam Business School.
In 2018, I obtained a PG Certificate in Higher Education (the University of Manchester), a Higher Education Fellowship (HEA) and in 2021, the Diplôme de français professionnel examiner certification (medical specialism) for the Chambre de Commerce et de l’Industrie Paris-Ile de France.

I have lead between 2022 and 2025, workshops on inclusive language, decolonising the French language curriculum, and allyship.

I co-organise the Language Teaching Forum, in which fellow language practitioners can present best practive and their research.

I am a member of the FLEUR network.
