Overview

Christian Homburg is Distinguished Professorial Fellow at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) and Professor of Marketing and director of the Institute for Market-Oriented Management (IMU) at the University of Mannheim. He holds honorary doctorial degrees from Copenhagen Business School and the Technical University Freiberg.

Christian’s research is primarily focused on market-oriented management and has been published in all of the marketing discipline’s top journals; according to the newest Author Productivity Rankingin the premier American Marketing Association (AMA) journals, he is ranked No. 2 worldwide for articles published in Journal of Marketingand Journal of Marketing Researchbetween 2008 and 2017. According to Google Scholar, the attention to Christian's work is approaching 50,000 citations.

Christian is a member of the editorial boards of six scientific journals and an area editor for Journal of Marketing. Christian is recipient of many awards for his research and the first European scientist to receive the GAMMA Lifetime Achievement award from the Global Alliance of Marketing and Management Associations (GAMMA).

Between 2006 and 2010, Christian was director of the Mannheim Business School at the University of Mannheim and developed the school into a leading institute in Europe for management education. In addition to his academic positions, Christian is founder of Homburg & Partner and chair of the firm’s advisory board, one of the largest marketing consultancies in Germanyfocused on strategic marketing and sales, with offices in Boston, Zurich, Munich and Mannheim.
