Personal profile

Overview

Hi, my name is Christopher Hoole and I am a first-year PhD student with the Graphene NOWNANO CDT. I have joined the University of Manchester after doing my Masters in Physics at the University of Leeds. My PhD project is about 'Nanoscale Thermal Management', and my objective is to develop a method to measure/image thermal conductivity in 2D materials for a range of material types. This project is a joint collaboration between the University of Manchester and the UK National Physical Laboratory. My outside interests include running, history and modelling.

Qualifications

Degree: Master of Physics and Bachelor of Science

Institution: University of Leeds

Biography

I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Leeds (2016-2020). At Leeds, I took a particular interest in quantum mechanics and how this can be used to describe the behaviour of nanomaterials. This led me to do a Masters project on Quantum Rod Nanoparticles, before joing the Graphene NOWNANO CDT at the University of Manchester in 2020.
