Overview

Dr Claire R. Ford is a Registered Adult Nurse and works as a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Manchester. Her MRC iCASE funded PhD explored the feasibility of Virtual Realith (VR) training in falls awareness in care homes. This translational project involved industry collaboration in development of VR training content. Feedback from this project assisted in C4T Wellcome grant funding for further development, Innovate ICURe Explore and Exploit funding for potential commercialisation, and NIHR HSDR grant for feaibility piloting VR education in social care with the addition of other modules.  

She has an active interest in improving quality of care and communication between healthcare professionals and patients through the utilisation of digital health. This includes mHealth devices, and evaluating the reporting guidelines. She works with the Digital Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) team at Manchester Foundation Trust in the development and support of research projects, focusing on the improvement and evalutation of the electronic health record.
