Dr. Courtney Owens is a Lecturer in Leadership and Management at Alliance Manchester Business School. Following completion of her MBA degree from University of Washington, WA, USA, Courtney opened a business which spanned both the US and Middle East, providing training services and project management support.  After some time in the middle east, Courtney went to the University of Manchester where she completed her PhD in Organsational Psychology. 

She is now a full-time academic and has proven her expertise in delivering well-received teaching programmes that leave a lasting impact.  With a focus on Executive Education, she has assisted organisations to develop their capabilities in people management, self-management, and leadership. She participates in the bid, proposal, design, and development of new programmes and is ongoing Programme Director for a large engineering-focussed leadership development programme (£1.5M over 5 years).

She has won awards for her teaching. She also teaches outside the UK and has won an Erasmus grant providing a teaching opportunity in France.

Dr. Owens conducts research in the areas of personality, leadership, and the pedagogy of leadership programmes.  She has a particular interest in the effect of personality traits on leadership, and investigating personality profiles. She is also interested in measuring and improving impact in leadership programmes. She has publications in the Journal of Personality and Individual Differences and a variety of book chapters. Courtney regularly presents at Academy of Management and British Academy of Management. 

She is a chartered organisational psychologist through the British Psychological Society and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has been trained in delivering the Insights Discovery Assessment and received certification in the Hogan Personality Assessment.
