Personal profile

Overview

I am a Field and Lab technician working on Greenhouse Gas Fluxes in the Wigan Flashes Natural Reserve. The project, run by Emma Shuttleworth, Jonny Ritson and David Johnson and run collaboratively with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, focuses on monitoring GHG fluxes over the period of 1 year from a mix of habitats that have undergone various levels of management in recent decades, with an aim to improve GHG capture.

My experience includes various research projects mainly involving palynology and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction, including investigating the impacts of restoration on ancient woodlands in Wales and studying the dynamics of Scots pine in western central Britain. During my PhD, I studied the paleoecology of peatlands in the Peruvian Amazon. I have also recently held a post-doctoral position at the National History Museum in Paris, where I studied the influence of climate changes on Neanderthal populations in Europe by using climate reconstruction and modelling methods.
