Personal profile

Overview

I am a BHF Intermediate Clinical Fellow and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Manchester and Manchester University NHS Hospitals. I earned my medical degree from the University of Birmingham, undertook junior doctor rotations in Oxford, then moved to Manchester to train as an academic cardiologist. My PhD was funded by a BHF clinical research training fellowship. My research focuses on the mechanisms underlying the rhythm of the heart and how these go awry in pro-arrhythmic conditions such as channelopathies and cardiomyopathies. In particular my interest is in Ca2+ handling in the heart and its manipulation with novel treatments. I particularly enjoy relating lab work to treating patients. In my clinical role as a cardiologist I have subspecialised in inherited cardiac conditions and cardiac MRI.
