Personal profile

Overview

I have a specific interest in healthcare education, educational leadership, change management and service improvement. I have over 16 years of teaching experience within Higher Education across a wide variety of programmes at undergraduate and post graduate level within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work and the School of Medical Sciences.

Biography

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1984. I worked in a variety of acute clinical settings (Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics and Accident and Emergency) before moving into community based practice, initially as a Practice Nurse within a large semi-rural GP practice before qualifying as a Nurse Practitioner in 1996. I worked as a Nurse Practitioner/Nursing Team Co-ordinator in General Practice from 1996-2003.

I gained a City and Guilds Teaching Qualification in 1992. Alongside my clinical role, I also worked as a clinical supervisor and assessor for a local Primary Care Trust.

I joined the University of Manchester as a lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work in 2003.
