Personal profile

Overview

I am a Research Associate with the Health Policy, Organisation and Economics (HOPE) research group in the Centre for Primary Care, Division of Population Health. My research interests lie in the areas of the sociology of health and encompass taking a sociological perspective to understanding health policy, health organisations, the associated workforce and work and health. I am particularly interested in the policy around, and provision of, Community Health Services.

I am a qualitative researcher and have worked on several projects which have taken an ethnographic/qualitative approach to exploring health policy and health services in practice, particularly at the Primary Care level.

I am currently:

  • Exploring how Integrated Care Systems are responding to the statutory requirement to tackle health inequalities.
  • Working on an NIHR funded research project which aims to understand the role of Adult Community Health Services in avoiding hospital admissions.  This is exploring both the commissioning and provision of community health services across multiple case study sites in England.
  • Exploring the needs of GPs from publically available work and health (occupational health) services.
