I am currently a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Manchester and Director of the Democracy & Elections master's programme.
Prior to this, I completed my PhD at Durham University, where I was part of their Centre for Institutions and Political Behaviour. I completed my PhD research, looking into support for the radical left in Germany, the US, and the UK, in 2021. Since then, I have adapted my UK case study into a standalone chapter which has recently been published in 'Electoral Studies'. I have also adapted my German case study with this subsequently being published in 'Political Studies Review' in 2023. I have also contributed research on nationalism in the UK to the 'Contemporary Politics' journal.
My teaching focus is on voting behaviour, specialising primarily in UK politics. I currently convene the 'Elections and Voters in Britain' module and co-teach 'Understanding Political Choice'. I also convene the 'Understanding Political Change' MA module.
My research interests are in political behaviour, populism, and the radical left, with specialisation in quantitative analysis - in particular, regression analysis and working with survey data.
