Dr Elena Borisova is an ESRC post-doctoral fellow at the department of Social Anthropology. She is working on migration, (im)mobility, and citizenship in Eurasia. Her research engages with the imaginative and moral aspects of migration in Tajikistan, and covers the questions of morality, personhood, modernity, kinship, care, and gender. Elena has published her work in English and Russian in the main anthropological and regional journals. Currently she is working on the book manuscript titled 'Paradoxes of Migration in post-Soviet Tajikistan' to be submitted to the UCL University Press.
Elena completed her PhD at the University of Manchester having previously studied at the European University at St. Petersburg, Russia where she was part of the interdisciplinary project ‘Transnational and Translocal Aspects of Migration in Contemporary Russia’.
