Personal profile

Overview

Eleni undertakes multidisciplinary research at the intersection of statistics and clinical investigation. Her main experience lies in the use of large electronic health records, including the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), secondary care data from Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), mortality data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), deprivation and national costing data. Eleni’s doctoral fellowship that was funded by the NIHR PSTRC, provided her with experience in propensity scoring methods, statistical modelling, and methods to control for confounding in observational research. She applied various statistical methods (including the inverse probability of treatment weighting, Poisson, Negative binomial and Cox regression modelling) and implemented different study designs (e.g. cohort, self-controlled case series).

Eleni is a Research Associate in Epidemiology in the Department of Pharmacy and Optometry and she currently investigates adverse outcomes among patients who were prescribed opioid agonists, corticosteroids or antibiotics in primary care.
