Erin Kirwin (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the University of Manchester. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and International Development Studies from McGill University and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta.
During her PhD studies, Erin is also employed as a Health Economist at the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) in Canada. Prior to joining the IHE in July 2019, Erin was the Manager of Advanced Analytics at Alberta Health and held the position of Public Health Economist with Alberta Health since 2011.
Erin has expertise in the use of routinely collected administrative data to inform public policy, with over ten years of experience working directly with administrative data from Alberta’s health system. She has led cost-effectiveness analyses to support decision-making for immunization programs such as COVID-19, human papillomavirus, and herpes zoster vaccine. Her peer-reviewed work includes cost of illness analyses, economic evaluations, as well as mathematical modelling of mitigation strategies for pandemic influenza and COVID-19.
Erin's PhD research focuses on theoretic and applied methods for the economic evaluation of interventions with very broad health system impacts.
