Dr Fanlin Meng joined Alliance Manchester Business School as a Lecturer in Data Science from August 2022. He was Lecturer in Data Science with University of Essex (Mathematical Sciences) between 2019 and 2022. He previously held several research positions in Cardiff (Engineering), Edinburgh (Mathematics), Durham (Engineering and Computing Sciences) and Loughborough (Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering). He received his PhD in Computer Science (Machine Learning and Optimisation) from the University of Manchester in 2015.

His primary research interests include Energy Data Analytics, Energy Market with Demand Response and Renewable Energy Integration, Smart Energy and Mobility, Machine Learning, Game Theory and Optimisation. He is Fellow of British Computer Society (FBCS), member of EPSRC Peer Review College, and Senior Member of IEEE.
