Personal profile

Overview

I am a PhD researcher at the Work and Equalities Institute (WEI). I am also a member of the Doctoral Network of the Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit).

My research examines paid domestic work. More specifically, I am researching the changes and continuities observed in the work and employment conditions of domestic workers in Mexico. By examining two recent phenomena – the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of digital labour platforms (DLPs) – I illustrate that the work experiences of domestic workers have not changed substantially and continue to be shaped by pervasive inequalities based on the intersection of gender, class, race, ethnicity, age and other social identities. My project is funded by the AMBS and supervised by Prof Debra Howcroft and Prof Tony Dundon.

Over the past year, I have worked as an Associate Research Consultant and Research Assistant at The University of Manchester. Before that, I worked as an intern and later as a consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva. In Brazil, my home country, I worked as a consultant for the UNDP, the Inter-American Bank (IDB), and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI).

Before moving to the UK, I completed my MA in Social Protection Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhine-Sieg in Germany. I hold an MBA in Project Management from FGV and a BA in International Relations from the University of Brasilia, Brazil.
