Overview

I research the political economy of the energy transtion and housing crisis. My research identifies the tensions and limits of neoliberal governance of energy and urban development. I contribute to wider theoretical debates on neoliberalism and capitalism, as well as to the specific analysis of the sectors I research.

I have conducted empircal research into the English planning system and its reforms, housing, shale gas fracking, metallurgical coal mining and my current project examines the electricity system of Great Britain. I contribute to policy and public debates in these areas, through working with those developing policy proposals to publishing a range of short form articles related to my areas of research.

Biography

I completed my PhD in Environmental Planning at Newcastle University in 2021, before working in politics. I then worked for a year at the Bartlett School of Planning, UCL, before starting a 3 year Leverhulme early career fellowship in Sept 2023. Prior to my PhD I worked in hospitality and administration.
