Overview

Gaurav's research is centered on developing low-carbon concrete solutions to advance sustainable construction practices. His work emphasizes the incorporation of waste materials, such as waste glass, along with other sustainable cementitious materials, into construction applications to minimize the reliance on traditional cement. This approach not only reduces the carbon footprint of construction activities but also aligns with the principles of a circular economy by repurposing industrial byproducts and waste.

A significant aspect of Gaurav's research involves detailed material characterization to understand the behavior, performance, and properties of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). He employs advanced experimental techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), to comprehensively evaluate the mechanical and durability performance of these materials.

Beyond his research, Gaurav actively contributes to academia as a part-time Graduate Teaching Assistant in the School of Engineering. In this role, he shares his expertise with undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering an engaging learning environment. He integrates real-world applications and sustainability-focused topics into his teaching, inspiring students to explore innovative solutions for challenges in engineering and sustainable construction.
