Biography

Gillian Haddock is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She holds an Honorary appointment in Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation trust and is co-Director of the Patient Safety Research Unit.which is a collaboration between the trust and the University of Manchester

She completed her undergraduate psychology degree at the University of York, her PhD and her professional Clinical Psychology training at the University of Liverpool. Her professional experience is primarily in the field of mental health with particular expertise in psychosis, suicideforensic psychology and substance misuse.

She was president of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies from 1999-2000 and in 1998 was awarded the May Davidson Award given by the Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society for contribution to British Clinical Psychology in the first 10 years since qualifying.

 

Research interests

Prof Haddock’s main research interests are in the developments of psychological treatments for severe mental health problems, the cognitive processes associated with these and their measurement. She has numerous publications in this area and is the editor of three academic text books.
