Personal profile

Research interests

My research lies at the intersections of feminist theory, postcolonialism and critical security studies. It is centrally concerned with understanding how systems of state violence are reproduced and naturalised through constructions of gender, race and class, and how feminist and other liberation movements can transform those systems. I am particularly interested in feminist contestations of, and complicities with, militaristic and colonial institutions of liberal governance; counterterrorism as a gendered, racialised and classed modality of state violence; and the tensions between liberal and radical, revolutionary and abolitionist approaches to social justice.
