Since September of 2020 I have worked as a Post-Graduate Researcher within the Manchester Institute of Education.
Prior to this I obtained a Distinction within my MA in Education and I have over 6 years experience within the English Further Education sector, acting as a manager at two General FE colleges with over 800 students in each department. As part of my roles within FE, I have been responsible for the managment of over 20 staff and 30 courses ranging from Level 1 to Level 4.
My thesis research focuses upon the Further Education Sector in England, using the thinking tools of Pierre Bourdieu to interrogate the relationship between policy intervention and professional identities amongst practitioners and leaders.
Most recently, I have undertaken research into Quality Management systems used within the Further Education context with a view to feeding into national debate. My research also focuses on reform to the FE sector, notably the T-Levels, and how this feeds into broader economic policy and themes surrounding post-industial decline, regional inequalities and wealth distribution.
As an Associate Lecturer within the Manchester Institute of Education, I lecture and support students on the following modules within the MA in International Education:
EDUC70262 Employability in Education
Dissertation Supervision
I am currently acting as Course Leader for the EDUC70262 module for the 21-22 cohort.
