Overview

Harry Spriggs is a PhD student at the University of Manchester, studying wetland restoration and rewilding. He is additionally training to support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as a teaching assistant.

Biography

Harry started his PhD in the Planning, Property and Environmental management department in September 2025, supervised by Ian Thornhill (UoM), Hannah Robson (WWT) and Anna Gilchrist (UoM). Before joining as a Postgraduate Researcher, Harry worked as a secondary school science technician and as a freshwater scientist at a Manchester based consultancy.

He completed is Bachlors degree in Zoology from Liverpool John Moores University in 2022 with a first class grade. As part of his undergraduate thesis Harry worked with Lancashire Wildlife Trust on the reintroduction of the White-faced darter dragonfly (Leucorrhinia dubia) contributing the restoration of the Chat Moss peatland complex in Greater Manchester.
