Personal profile
Overview
I am a visual anthropologist researching climate activism through a combined ethnographic and artistic approach, bridging academic writing and audiovisual storytelling. My doctoral research explores the dynamics and potentials of climate activism in Turkey, with a focus on different political perspectives within an authoritarian developmentalist context.
I am particularly interested in political hope and the role of media, art, and creativity in social movements. As part of my research, I am producing an essay film based on collaborative work with climate activists, imagining a climate museum that centres the humans, places, and objects shaping climate and environmental movements in Turkey.
Supervisors: Rupert Cox and Michelle Obeid.
Research interests
My thematic interests include social movements, climate and environmental action, political hope, visual anthropology and filmmaking, curation and museum studies, and interdisciplinary methodologies.
