Biography

Jack is currently a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in The University of Manchester's School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED).

He was recently awarded a a prestigious three-year Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship for his innovative research project, “Creating Urban Environments for Wellbeing: Advancing Methods and Theory”. This project aims to develop new tools and insights for understanding how changes in urban environments impact people’s wellbeing. 

Jack's research sits at the interface of public health, behavioural science and urban research, and focuses on improving urban policy and decision making for healthy cities. He has a background in health psychology and has worked in a number of academic research roles. He has experience in a range of quantitative methods from basic inferential statistics to more complex multi-level regression modelling.

Jack has a keen interest in using natural experimental methods to evaluate the health and wellbeing impacts of environmental interventions. He has worked with researchers, policy makers and urban developers in multiple natural experimental research collaborations, including the EU Horizon 2020 funded GrowGreen project to evaluate the health and wellbeing impacts of nature-based solutions in cities across Europe and China (https://growgreenproject.eu/).
