Personal profile

Overview

Originally from Leicester, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge, Fitzwilliam College. I carried out my final year project in organometallic chemistry with Dr Andrew Wheatley before moving to Durham University for a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry with Dr Phil Dyer and Prof Chris Greenwell. During my doctorate, I also undertook a RSC Westminster Fellowship based in the House of Commons. Following my PhD, I moved to the University of Oxford as a postdoctoral researcher in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory. There, I worked with Prof Kylie Vincent and Dr Holly Reeve on various aspects of bioinorganic chemistry and biocatalysis. Notably, I was part of the team to develop the HydRegen cofactor recycling technology, which was span-out as a company in 2021. Whilst at Oxford, I was awarded an EPA Cephalosporin Junior Research Fellowship at Linacre College, and was appointed as a Tutor in Inorganic Chemistry at Magdalen College.

In October 2021, I was awarded a BBSRC Discovery Fellowship and moved to the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology. My current research interests involve combining elements of inorganic and bio-catalysis to solve problems in sustainable chemistry. In 2024 I was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship, and won the RSC Inorganic Biochemistry Discussion Group Investigator Award.
