I’ve been working in academia for 7 years, primarily building and researching hydroponic and aquaponic systems. I’ve worked in a variety of contexts from designing and building a high tech greenhouse in Oman, to building low cost hydroponic systems in an abandoned school in a disadvantaged area of Sheffield.
In more recent times I have taken up an interest in science communication with the aim of increasing public awareness and acceptance of sustainable agricultural technologies like hydroponics. I have also been developing relationships with commercial stakeholders of different shapes and sizes with the aim of bridging the gaps between academia and business.
I currently work across three projects, Transforming the UK Food Systems program in 'H3', BBSRC's Bacterial Plant Diseases' program 'Disease Suppressive Microbes' and Research England Development program 'South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre'.
