Overview

James is the GIS Technical Specialist, supporting GIS and Remote Sensing activities across the Faculty of Humanities. James has extensive responsibilities in the development, planning and execution of GIS research, teaching and operational activities. 

Teaching

James teaches on more than 20 modules across the Faculty of Humanities, including master's and undergraduate GIS and remote sensing teaching in:

  • The Department of Geography
  • The Department of Planning and Environmental Management
  • Archaeology
  • The Institute of Humanitarian and Conflict Response
  • The Global Development Insitute
  • Manchester Institute of Education

James writes lectures and practicals, advises on development, prepares software, hardware and digital teaching infrastructure for GIS adjacent modules. 

James uses his skills and knowledge developed during his study of a PGCert in Higher Education to enhance the delivery of GIS materials, including the use of multi-media and multi-media approaches for GIS skills development.

 

Office hours

James does not run office hours and endeavours to be available to take in GIS-related queries during all working hours. James runs GIS drop-ins which are communicated through module Canvas pages and through the Geospatial Technical Community Canvas space.
