Overview

Lecturer in the Department of Sociology.

I am an interdisciplinary sociologist interested in relationships. I work across cultural and social contexts; I have collected large qual datasets and produced film/media analyses.

I have two strands to my research. The first is around sexuality, and includes sex, intimacy, sexual inequalities, marriage and divorce, and situated explorations of queer theory. The second is around a more diffuse sense of social connectedness, and has lead to me working on things like wellbeing, therapy culture, alternative therapies, everyday mystery, and the communal aspects of mysticism.

In both strands, I am broadly interested in exploring how relationships are situated within everyday life.I am a member of the Morgan Centre for Research into Everyday Lives.
