Biography

I currently lead the operations, collaboration and impact for the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit (OPFPRU), working nationally in partnership across our sites in in collaboration with an extensive network of stakeholders operating within the health and social care policy and practice landscape. .

I have more than 25 years’ experience working across a number of organisations as a senior programme manager, strategic relations and impact lead in the fields of health ageing, policy research and social inclusion.

A member of the Healthy Ageing Research Group within The University of Manchester’s School of Health Sciences, I am well versed in complex programme leadership, project management, policy influencing and delivering impact. My work spans a number of local, regional, national and international networks, underpinned by her lifelong commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging. 

I have worked extensively across Europe, as a member of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA) within Action Group 2 – Falls Prevention, and programme lead for the European Commission-funded Prevention of Falls Network for Dissemination (ProFouND) a thematic network that spanned 12 countries and 60+ partners. A founder member and key operational lead for the European Falls Festival and a contributing member of the Greater Manchester Active and Healthy Ageing EIPAHA Group.

A thinking environment, open space practitioner and expert facilitator I  regularly work with community groups and experts by experience as co-researchers and partners in the research of the PRU.  Through my extensive network I proactively seek to involve and engage citizens in research, working in particular with those who are most underrepresented in health and social care.
