Biography

Prof Javier Garcia Oliva studied Law at the University of Cádiz, where he obtained his first degree, LLM and PhD (cum laude and European distinction). After finishing his first degree, he took up a lectureship at the University of Cádiz and subsequently, a Research Fellowship at the Centre for Law and Religion, Cardiff University. Javier became a lecturer at the University of Wales Bangor in 2004. In January 2011 he moved to the University of Manchester, where he became a Senior Lecturer, and a Professor of Law in 2021. Javier is also a Lecturer in Spanish Law at the University of Oxford and a Teaching Fellow at University College London (U.C.L.)
 
Furthermore, Prof Javier Garcia Oliva is a Research Associate at the Centre for Law and Religion (Cardiff University), Profesor Visitante de la Universidad Carlos III (Madrid), Profesor Visitante del Centro de Derecho Comparado de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Sevilla, Profesor de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Catolica de Chile, and Visiting Professor at Schulich School of Law, Dalhousive University (Canada). Javier is also the Membership Secretary of the UK Constitutional Law Association and the Book Review Editor of 'Law and Justice'.

    2. The legal position of established denominations in the United Kingdom from a wider European perspective.

    4. Religious freedom and its conflicts with other human rights, such as freedom of speech
    5. Religious symbols.

  3. Administrative Law: the position of tribunals in the United Kingdom.
