Overview
I am an MB-PhD in Cancer Sciences candidate at the University of Manchester, funded by Cancer Research UK and the Division of Cancer Sciences. My PhD project is on Bcl-xL inhibitors in ovarian cancer. Professor Stephen Taylor is my main supervisor.
My interests include Oncology, Surgery, EDI, and leadership. I have a special interest in improving support for international students, which I worked on through a non-profit for international medics in the UK called the Association of International Medics UK (AIM UK) which I co-founded. I acted as Head of the organisation for three years.
I am also interested in scientific communication and outreach. As an aspiring clinician scientist, I write about my experiences and research/academia on my own website: https://www.jeanlingtan.com. I also volunteer regularly at scientific outreach events.
