Biography
Jeferson Scabio’s research delves into racial violence, activism, and everyday life in urban Brazil. In his doctoral thesis, he explored how favela residents resist state-sanctioned killing and mass incarceration. His current project investigates the enduring colonial legacies of state terror and the processes of grief among families of those killed by police violence. He earned his PhD from the Museu Nacional, Brazil, and has held affiliations with the University of Oxford and the University of London.
