Overview

My field is visual anthropology, and I'm genuinely in love with it. I enjoy taking photos (especially Polaroids), making videos, daydreaming, and going on ACG pilgrimages.

My current research focuses on Chinese ethnographic films - the fieldwork behind them, the processes of production, and how audiences respond, across different times and regions. I'm fascinated by how visual anthropologists negotiate, reconcile, and navigate the political, economic, social, technological, and institutional constraints that shape their work, all while keeping their films grounded in anthropological care.
