PhD projects

I'm very interested in PhD projects that explore environmental concerns in nineteenth-century literature, particularly exploring uplands and women's writing, as well as projects using digital methods, especially literary mapping.

Personal profile

Overview

My research focuses on literary geographies of the long nineteenth century, spatial poetics and environmental humanities. Digital methodologies and technologies extend the reach of this work.

Biography

Having completed a BA in English Literature and MA in Victorian Literature at the University of Leeds, I attained my PhD at Keele University in 2016. This project focused on the Coleridge family's spatial poetics between 1796 and 1898. From there, I moved to Lancaster University as the Senior Research Associate on the Spatial Humanities project 'Geospatial Innovation in the Digital Humanities: A Deep Map of the English Lake District'. My recent work continues to explore the uses of digital technologies in humanities research, particularly at the intersection between literary geographies and environmental studies.
