Personal profile
Biography
Dr Jon Lim, FRCP PhD, is a clinician-scientist whose research operates at the interface of cancer immunology, translational science, and early-phase clinical trials. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Manchester and an Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie, with a strategic focus on accelerating immune and cellular therapies for solid tumours from discovery through first-in-human and early-phase clinical evaluation.
He completed his PhD in Cancer Immunology through the Wellcome-Imperial 4i Clinical Fellowship at The Francis Crick Institute and Imperial College London. He further developed expertise in translational immuno-oncology and cell therapy through a Crick Postdoctoral Clinical Fellowship, complemented by an ICF-ESMO Clinical Unit Visiting Fellowship at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
Dr Lim is currently Lead of the Manchester-led, MRC-funded RISE consortium and Deputy Lead of the UK-wide, OLS/MRC-funded MANIFEST consortium; both of which integrate NHS, academic, and industry partners to drive biomarker discovery and therapeutic target development in immuno-oncology. He is Co-Lead of the Manchester Immuno-Oncology Network and holds international leadership roles through ESMO, including Lead Coordinator of the Translational Research Faculty and Associate Editor for ESMO IOTECH.
His work strengthens The University of Manchester’s translational cancer research environment by linking discovery science, clinical trials infrastructure, and clinical academic capacity building.
