Overview
Johnny O Rourke is a PhD Researcher in the Accounting and Finance Division. He joined Alliance Manchester Business School in September 2020. Before joining AMBS, he gathered professional experience across the spectrum of human services in the private, public and charity sector in Australia, the UK and Ireland. During this time, he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer in the Charity sector and Chief Operating Officer in the private sector. Johnny continues to hold the position of Trustee on the Board of World Vision, Ireland and is the Chairperson for the governance and selection committee.
Johnny studies the effects of calculative practices on organizations and society. His research is focused specifically on climate-related financial disclosure and the emergence of non-financial methodologies for supporting decision-making in firms. Johnny was recently part of an AMBS research team commissioned by the Financial Reporting Council to investigate how FTSE 350 firms use the scenario analysis methodology to support non-financial related climate corporate disclosure.
