Methodological knowledge

Molecular biology: preparation of total RNAand micro RNA isolation and measurements of its effect and cDNA from different regions of rat heart (atrium, ventricle and sinoatrial node), primer design, quantitative PCR and DNA and RNA gel electrophoresis.

  • Extensive experience in Laser capture microdissection and RNA isolation from the microdissected tissues
  • Extensive experience in histology, immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy of tissues.
  • Extensive experience in calcium imaging in the cardiac myocytes
  • Extracellular potential mapping of the sinoatrial node.
  • Intracellular action potential recording from the sinoatrial node.
  • Isolation of sinoatrial node, atrioventricular conduction axis and Purkinje fibres from different species: mouse, rat, rabbit and guinea-pig.
  • Some experience in In situ hybridization (ISH).
